I have so many thank you's to dispense, to these lovely women:Kathi and for inviting me to Meme-ize, TJ's mom, who actually tagged Fluffy, and to Felicity and Kristen for bestowing the Nice Award unto me. It's so very NICE! and Meme-ish! It feels Nicely and Memely! The Niceness and Memeosity are washing over me and soothing me in this time of change. You see, we are moving.
MOVING!
To western Massachusetts, the land of the rolling hill and Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and restaurants off the chain. It's not that I'll never take Fluffy to Applebee's again, but now we'll have choices!
We are up to our eyeballs in boxes. The truck is due to arrive in less than a week. I am unplugging my DSL line and inserting my wireless card.
And through it all, Fluffy is a star, a shining star. Not only does he sit in the co-pilot seat of the Cessna 4-seater and look down the 3,000 feet to the tiny super-pro lego size cars and houses on the ground with low shoulder and heavy lids, soooooooo relaxed, so calmed by the view, the headphones, the control panel before him, he also listens to the talk between our pilot and ground control and says into his mike, Okay, whatever you are saying. Okay with me.
Not only is he that guy, but he's also the guy who, despite his not really wanting to leave this home, the only home he's ever known, literally a block away from the hospital room from which he made his grand entrance into this crazy mixed up world, he wakes up this morning and says, cheerfully, Mom, I wonder what adventures and other fun things today holds?
Adventures and fun things to be sure: trips to the dump, the donation center, the post office, the grocery store. La la! And then a quick overnight to the new house for Fluffy's OT session tomorrow morning. And then back again to reload my tape gun. Stand back!
We're moving on out and into a bigger life. I can feel it.
When things settle down, I will be back to spread the Nice and to Meme-ize. Please know all invitations and thoughts of us are deeply appreciated and taken in like salty wet children tumbled in ocean waves are wrapped up in colorful towels and held close to our son-warmed bodies.
I am like SO late - you can see I don't get around much (high school is mom reliving homework........)....
I love western Massachussetts. I'm so jealous!!! LOL And you will have something we don't get here in PA much any more...snow...imagine that...!!! (It's still 86 here.)
BTW some of the best health food stores I've found are there. And there's one over the border in VT, too.....

Congratulations on the move!
It is good to hear that Fluffy's handling the move so well. And how cool is it that he gets to sit in the co-pilot's seat for the flight!

Hey Kyra, best wishes on the move, and I am so impressed with Mr. F's Zen attitude! And you East Coasters should definitely let me know when you get together--I get out there a couple of times a year and would love to meet up. Be safe, be well, and get that DSL up soon!

rock on baby! I wanted to tell you a couple of autism/spectrum related things...you know how i always claim to somehow be able to get along with people on the spectrum, well now i have sort of proof...it runs in my family...my brother has developed an incredible connection to the autistic child of a family he is doing work for! WooT! and there's more but i don't feel like posting such a long comment. if you have time, email me.
big good juju love!

Oh Kyra,
It is going to be wonderful for your family but I will sorely miss you all! It is rare for me to find such a kindered spirit as you that I selfishly want you to stay.
I wish you all many many blessings. Fluffy will soar!

If my house is halfway to anything, I'm happy to host a get together! Promise to get the plumbing in order...
Good luck with the move Kyra. And so happy to hear Fluffy is taking it all in stride. I have such horrid memories of our move--of course, my son was just two, but he used to scream at the top of his lungs every time he saw our real estate agent. I wonder if he was trying to tell us something?
Posted by: kristen | August 30, 2007 at 09:28 PM
Oh my, sounds like you've got your hands a bit full. So glad Fluffy is taking it all in stride this far. :-)
Sounds silly, I know, but I feel like you're going so very far away. Ok, I know cyberspace is closer than that hospital to your current home but, but, but...
I was so looking forward to a grand east-coast get together w/you and Kristen...maybe we'll have to meet halfway at *her* house? You know, the one with the plumbing issues? (Kidding, Kristen, Kidding!) Anyway, Kyra, I hope the move goes well and you are up and running soon!

Oh, Kyra, moving's a drag, but western Mass is a lovely place. I went to school in the happy valley and loved it, just loved every minute of it. And further west I have wonderful memories of Tanglewood. I hope the move goes well. Good luck with your new home!
